Questions

Frequently asked questions

Everything owners usually want to know before they pick up the phone.

What is The Business Physical?

A diagnostic for established businesses. It examines every function of the business — financials, sales, operations, leads, execution, and more — and hands you a report card showing exactly where things stand. Just as important, it starts from the owner’s own goals, so the plan that follows is built around what you actually want out of the business, not just what the numbers say.

Aren’t you just another consultant?

No. Consultants diagnose and leave. We diagnose, then implement the improvements ourselves for you, and stay on with ongoing meetings and support to make sure it works.

Who is this for?

Established small businesses with roughly 5 to 80 employees. It’s built for two kinds of owners: one who’s busy working in the business and wants outside help improving it, and one whose company doesn’t have a CFO and wants a partner for monthly strategy sessions.

What does the diagnostic cost?

Nothing. The diagnostic itself is free. You only pay if you decide to move forward with fixing what it found.

What do I actually have to do?

A mutual NDA is signed first. Then you answer a fixed set of questions about how the business runs — by voice memo on your own time works well — and share your financial statements and a receivables aging report. That's the whole intake.

What happens to my information?

Everything is covered under a mutual NDA before any numbers or answers change hands. Your information is used to build your report card and is not shared or identified outside the engagement.

What do I get at the end of the diagnostic?

A Business Performance Report Card — a letter grade for each part of the business, from financial health to owner dependency, so you can see exactly where you're strong and where you're exposed. Alongside it, you get a plan for how to improve what's weak and what that work would cost.

Am I obligated to hire you after the diagnostic?

No. Some owners take the report card and fix things themselves. If you'd rather have it handled, the findings are offered as discrete projects you can choose from — never one indivisible engagement.

What happens after I decide to fix something?

The report card names the problems, and you pick which ones to take on and in what order. Common work includes moving the books onto a basis you can actually read, implementing job management software, building an invoicing and collections discipline, and installing job costing so you know which work actually makes money.

What's the monthly scoreboard?

Once your systems are in place and the numbers are trustworthy, the relationship becomes a standing monthly one. Our proprietary software analyzes the ongoing trends in your numbers and flags what needs attention, so each month we meet to work through whatever it’s surfaced and decide what to do next.

Who's behind this?

Michael Saraylian, founder. He built a business from nothing in 2008, ran it remotely from Utah for four years, and sold it cleanly — walking away the same day the sale closed. Read the full story.
